Thanks for sharing your presentation with the group. Are you folks set up with Open DB with your contract?
That would be helpful for reporting although is a copy of the database that can't be written to, it is quite useful.
Hey Toni Pennacchia, yes we currently have the Open DB, but only for a limited trial. We're found it can be useful, but it doesn't give you all of the tables, so some of the queries which we used to run when self-hosted aren't available. As you say, it can be useful, but doesn't cover everything.
"No direct database access - can't fix things via database queries, or run simple reports on database"
+1 Chris - that has been my major complaint about going to Managed Hosting or SaaS. In fact if this issue could be resolved, I would be in favor up moving to Managed Hosting or SaaS. I know you can always put in a ticket to Bb Support to fix things in the database, but sometimes we don't have time to wait on Support.
I know what you mean Casey Eubank - it did require a change of mind set for me. I think it's more difficult for those moving from self-hosted who were used to having their fingers in the database! If you went straight to Managed Hosting I'm sure it would be fine.
