Blackboard Learn is a complex database with a fancy front end. There are times you want to get information that isn’t available through the web GUI. How do you proceed? The trick is to figure out where and how you can access the raw data in a meaningful format.

Whether your institution is self- or managed- hosted, you can get to the database and pull out vast quantities of useful data if you know where to look. This session will help you get started with the database by going over a handful of example queries and explaining how the University of Miami’s Learning Platforms Team has utilized first ASR (a small subset of the full database available to all MH Clients) and now OpenDB (full database access) to provide better service to UM’s faculty and students and get more value from our Blackboard system.
