Learning analytics notifications in the form of automated notifications have the potential to increase self-regulated learning and student success at scale. But interventions like this will only make a difference if students take notice of this functionality, understand it, and interpret signals correctly. In this presentation we will discuss the results of two recent studies on the impact of student notifications in Blackboard Learn Ultra. With access to large amounts of anonymized student activity data, supplemented by qualitative data collected at the University of Michigan, Blackboard continues to see strong evidence in support of putting learning data in the hands of students themselves.
