Blackboard Learn is a robust and powerful learning management system. It has the ability to empower potent technology-mediated instruction, but it can also be overwhelming to novices. Resultant frustrations can drive away users and leave project managers, system owners, and instructional designers scratching their heads regarding how to best meet the professional development needs of their faculty. This situation sets the stage for the case study framing this presentation. A new project manager inherited a Blackboard Learn-based ecosystem that had fallen out of a favor with instructional faculty in a federal corporate university context. This presentation walks attendees through how he was able to turn all of that around and revitalize a once-dormant Blackboard Learn professional development program.
