University of Sharjah is considered one of the most comprehensive universities in the region. Blackboard has been successfully implemented as the main LMS in many aspects supporting teaching, learning and research in the University of Sharjah. Blackboard Organizations (Course Sites) are customized with Online Forms, Tests, Assignments and Surveys. Achievements and Notice boards are used to highlight the top performers and to encourage students to work harder and to recognize and reward high achievers by applying gamification tools. Moreover, discussion boards were incorporated into the design to connect peers to provide a collaborative environment in which students share their experiences.

The courses sites provided a convenient and efficient way to digitally track and record the performance of students. We plan to expand this to include other courses with different challenges with the aim of improving the teaching and learning experience at the University of Sharjah through the utilization of advanced LMS tools.
