In this presentation, we’ll share how we are endeavouring to overcome the perennial challenge of academic adoption: how are we persuading and supporting academics to venture away from the familiarity of their traditional practice and engage in the brave new world of Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) ?

We’ll present our ethos and strategy for successfully engaging and supporting staff, from first-time lecturers to long-standing academics, to adopt and embed TEL in their practice and to steadily make it ‘business as usual’. We’ll share how we have arrived at our current multi-modal approach to deliver TEL staff development that includes an amalgam of face-to-face workshops, online courses, webinars (using Collaborate), and individual consultations. A work-in-progress, we’ll discuss our current model, our journey to date and where we plan to go next. We’ll detail a number of other schemes we have in place to help enthuse staff, share and celebrate good practice, and promote innovation, for example our popular lunchtime APPetite events. Finally, we’ll explore how we work with other support services and how our day-to-day support and wealth of resources help foster confidence and commitment to TEL across the institution.

You are warmly invited to come along to find out how one institution is approaching a challenge many of us in the TEL community face!
