Online student support – from the inside

Session will showcase proactive approaches Palm Beach State College takes to support online students, highlighting application of EasySoft's EasyMessaging system to provide 'overlay notices' that deliver messages to 'the right users at the right time in the right place,' from within Blackboard Learn.  These overlay notices selectively/effectively deliver important instructions and information to students and faculty.  The EasyMessaging system also provides an EasySoft Dashboard via a slide-out Support Button on every Bb Learn page, providing context/user sensitive help, organizing/providing targeted delivery of online Tutorials/Webinars/Workshops and Known-Issues, and providing a Support Request Form that auto-identifies the user's OS and browser.  PBSC has been utilizing the Javascript Hacks Tool building block by Oscelot, providing students and faculty a 'Need Help - Contact Us' banner inside all courses.  Replacing this 'Hack' with the EesySoft EesyMessaging system has significantly reduced the number of student/faculty inquiries/support requests by providing pertinent information at the point of need.
