Using Blackboard Learn as an open entry, open completion tool for math courses has given us a unique perspective on teaching math to digital natives.  Currently, we facilitate multiple high school math courses that we have developed.  We will examine:  1.  our partnership as an instructional designer and a subject matter expert as we function in both a tight knit math professional learning community and the larger cross-curricular professional learning community at JCPSeSchool;  2. how we provide a personalized learning experience that ensures growth leading to mastery for our students;  3.  the class structure we use and the impact on students as they take courses for initial credit or credit recovery;  4. the communication strategies that we use to build relationships with students;  5.  best practices and effective strategies to make online lessons more interesting, motivating and engaging.
