Grand View University has devised a solution that uses Blackboard Learn rubrics and SQL reports to support departmental/institutional assessment of the general education core curriculum. The problem: Gather assessment data of the interdisciplinary core curriculum built with flexibility and choices. How we collect: Develop templates and train faculty to use the rubric and/or alignment features in Blackboard. How we analyze: We then use a SQL report to pull the data associated with those rubrics into a large exportable database (examples will be provided). The future expectations: There are possibilities for using this type of data creation and mining for other program assessments or institutional research in the future.
