Syracuse University has committed to providing the best user experience when interacting with Blackboard's learning management system. SU has licensed Blackboard since 2003 to deliver and support a system to enhance teaching and learning. The commitment has motivated SU to engage in Blackboard professional services to improve performance. Our goal was to increase the capacity and functional response of our Blackboard instance, while certifying our technical system architecture. We completed an extensive set of tests on a clone of our system. Results of the testing suggested changes to our Load Balancer, network configuration, application server configuration and database server of the production environment that were made during Spring Break. We were then able to complete capacity testing during this period of lower use by students and instructors. The custom functional tests involved in load testing also made the difference in this engagement. Session will provide a summary of services and a justification for engaging professional services.
