The American Council on Education and Blackboard’s joint research investigates barriers to adoption and scalability of CBE. In 2014-15 we have published a lexicon, led roundtables, and published a paper synthesizing insights and providing practical guidance. Our work encourages action by illustrating how competencies can provide a new currency that augments the value of credits in 21st-century educational ecosystems. Competencies document student achievement and create meaningful connections between jobseekers and employment, for faculty and staff development, and for economic development.
