The Hostos EdTech Office specially supports our most innovative faculty, the ones creating cutting-edge best-practices in teaching with technology, by encouraging an organizational culture that values risk-taking, collaboration, and the diffusion of innovation through Community of Practices (CoP):1) Innovation Celebration: Hostos offers a number of initiatives to encourage faculty to teach online with Blackboard, use iPads in the classroom, create lecture captures, and integrate ePortfolios, for example. Each semester EdTech brings together these faculty members for a celebration event, to discuss other emerging technology topics and to share their own experiences. 2) Innovation Chase: Based on game elements, it reward users with digital badges. The system identifies faculty who have, for example, attended trainings, participated in initiatives, mentored other faculty, and rewards them with digital badges. At each Innovation Celebration EdTech honors the faculty with the most points and badges with prizes.
