    Introduction:

    Assessing learner progress may be the most challenging component of course design and delivery, so this module will focus on how to leap those hurdles in a single bound!  Okay ... maybe that's a bit optimistic, but you'll definitely see some great ways to determine if your students are "getting it"  and how  to implement a variety of assessment activities.  Examples drawn from courses recognized for excellence will be used to illustrate the three subsections of the ECP rubric -- Expectations, Assessment Design, and Self-Assessment.


    Objectives:

    1. Discuss the purposes for assessment and characteristics of effective assessment activities
    2. Explain the importance of aligning assessments to desired outcomes
    3. Identify ways to make instructor expectations clear to learners
    4. Explain the value of self-assessment
